Monthly Faves – Monthly Playlist, Harry Styles, Netflix Weather and More

ctizdfewaaanfzk

Tomorrow is October 1st. I know, I can’t believe it either. Where has the year gone?

It’s usually around this time of the year that my wish to live in America presents itself more strongly than the rest of the year. I mean, it’s autumn. Halloween is just a month away. Then it’s Thanksgiving, which I have always loved to be a part of. Then it’s Christmas (only 86 sleeps to go!), which involves snow in many places – something I have yet to experience in general, let alone at Christmas time! One day….I will go and it will be fantastic.

Today has been a very wintery day, although it’s officially spring. It’s been raining and windy for the past 3 days, with forecasts predicting it will be continuing over our long weekend. Perfect Netflix weather, I say. Especially with a new month tomorrow meaning new Netflix additions!

In the spirit of the approaching Halloween season, I’ve been watching Scream Queens season 1 which is hilarious and not really that scary at all. It’s created by Ryan Murphy who created Glee, so if you liked the edgy humor from Glee, you should enjoy Scream Queens! I love the costumes which the Chanels wear as well as the 80s soundtrack. Also, Emma Roberts deserves awards for playing Chanel Oberlin – she is so good!

Also on my current watchlist as been The Vampire Diaries (Stelena 4eva), UnReal TV and Full House (I know it’s cheesy, but we all need a bit of cheese, don’t you think?). Not to mention numerous Netflix documentaries about space and the universe.

So, we all know Harry Styles is gorgeous, but have you seen his photoshoots for Another Man magazine which came out this week? The man is giving Kendall and Gigi a run for their money.

So many more pics out there, but you get the idea: he is a model.

Then, last night I randomly woke up at 1am to see other One Direction alumni Niall Horan just released his first solo single called This Town which is absolutely beautiful, simple yet incredibly touching…

I really wish all of the 1D boys all the best with whatever they choose to do during their hiatus, I just adore all of them so much!

Speaking of music, here’s this month’s playlist:

Shawn Mendes released his new album Illuminate last week and it’s very John Mayer/Ed Sheeran-y. But with a Mendes twist. I think Shawn is one of the best young artists out there at the moment and if Illuminate is what we get for a second album, I can’t wait to see how great he’s going to be in years to come!

Another fave of mine for this month has been cross-stitching. Yes, I am a 70 year old woman trapped inside the body of a twentysomething year old woman! I’m working on a cross-stitch design for my Nonna, which I hope to frame and give to her either on her birthday or for a Christmas gift (depending on how quickly I get it done!). I love how relaxing crafting can be after a stressful day at work.

On my food faves list has to be burrito bowls. We had a new health food store open in our town this month and they make the BEST burrito bowls. Just…to die for.

August Playlist – What I’ve Been Listening To This Month

laptop_rug

One thing you must know about me if you’re wanting to become friends is that I love music. I adore music. I live and breathe music and would not be the same person without it.

Each month I’ve been compiling playlists with some of my favourite tunes which have been my soundtrack both day and night.

This past month I’ve really been loving DJ Snake/Justin Bieber’s tune Let Me Love You which you’ve probably heard countless times on the radio. I’ve really enjoyed the majority of music we’ve heard from The Biebs this past year, he’s stepped up his game when it comes to music. Also featured in this month’s list is Snakeships’ Cruel which features ZAYN.

Also on my playlist are some cool bops from female artists Dua Lipa, Tove Lo, MØ,  and Hailee Steinfield as well as The Queen herself, Adele (All I Ask is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a long time).

Then there are some country/pop tracks from Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini (congrats on the CMA nominations, girl!) and an amazing duet from Kenny Chesney featuring acrobatics extraordinare, P!nk which you wouldn’t necessarily think would work, but trust me, it does.

Good Charlotte is also on this playlist with their new song Life Can’t Get Much Better which I initially thought sounded a lot like a 5 Seconds Of Summer Song until I realised the Madden Brothers are behind a good chunk of 5SOS’ songs. So that makes sense. Then there’s my current fave Closer by The Chainsmokers (they’re so hot right now) featuring Halsey.

Shawn Mendes’ Mercy from his upcoming album Illuminate rounds out this playlist. Shawn is a perfect blend of Ed Sheeran/John Mayer with his own unique, soulful touch. For someone with such deep and moving lyrics it’s hard to forget he’s only 18 years old! Will definitely be hearing more from him in years to come.

So, get your headphones out or plug your phone into your car and turn this playlist right up.

Enjoy the music and let me know below what your favourite songs were this month!

Happy listening!

May Favourites

img_0124-1

For the past few months I have been sharing my music favourites with you all and I thought I would continue with that tradition as well as adding a few extra faves for this month.

Keeping that in mind, here are a few (and by a few, I mean the bare minimum) things I have been enjoying during May.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors

Matte lip creams are all the range right now and I had tried to keep my distance due to their drying finish on the lips. However, I recently saw Zoella talk about the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors and she raved about their staying power as well as their moisturising finish on the lips.

After much deliberation and waiting for a sale at my local Priceline store, I bought 4 shades and I really love these! They apply to the lips very much like other lupcreams do, and while there is a degree of mattifying, there is a tiny amount of sheen left on the lips to keep the product feeling fresh and coach-free all day.

There are a range of shades including the perfect pink/mauve colour, a’la Kylie Jenner as well as deeper, berry-tones which are perfect for the warmer weather (in Australia).

FitBit Charge HD

With impending weddings of 2 close friends later this year, I have really been making an effort to get fit and healthy this year. Partially to look good in wedding photos and partially because I want to live an active lifestyle and take care of myself.

Along with healthy meal choices, I have been upping my exercise and really challenging myself to meet goals and have fun with my workouts (if you’d like to know what kind of workouts I have been doing lately, let me know and I will do a post about my favourite things!).

So, I invested in a FitBit and let me tell you – this thing is amazing. Not only is it a pedometer, which helps me keep track of my daily step counts, but it synchs to an app on smartphones in which you can record your calorie intake, your water intake, your weightless goals and it even synchs and records the workouts you do to let you know the calories you burn. You can use the app as a food log, you can use it to see how many flights of stairs you have taken each day and you can even record your sleeping patterns with it!!!

Pretty cool, huh? I’ve found that the app makes me more accountable. Especially when I participate in group step challenges with friends who also have FitBits – nobody wants to see their name last on the leader board!

Music

How awesome was May when it came to new music? There have been so many new songs released this past month and I have been so happy to listen to them all on my Spotify playlist.

The Billboard Music Awards was on last week and there were some amazing performances by some incredible artists. My fave was definitely Troye Sivan’s performance of ‘YOUTH’.

It just makes me so happy to see him living his dreams and enjoying every single moment of it!

I’d love to know what some of your favourite things were for May! Let me know in the comments section below, or link me to your own post so that I can check out your blog!

Let’s make June our best month yet!

Playlist – March 2016

Can you believe March has already come and gone? Tomorrow is April 1st (April Fool’s Day!) and so starts a new month and for me, a new chapter of my life.

This month’s soundtrack is filled with tunes I only recently discovered either by radio or by chance when walking around the shopping centre (Shazam is amazing in these moments!).

Check out my Spotify playlist below…

Spotify Playlist – February 2016

cat-music-1rx716q

Music has the power to get me through anything life has thrown at me. The happy, sad, stressful, angry and heartbreaking moments always seem to have their own soundtracks.

February’s playlist includes songs that have motivated me through unfair moments as well as songs that have relaxed me when stress attacked.

I’ve really been loving soft, almost ethereal-like pop tunes from artists such as Halsey and Troye Sivan, as well as upbeat songs from bands like The Summer Set and DNCE.

Streaming services like Spotify are great for finding new and interesting music that I may not have listened to in every day life.
